If that “flat” edge is missing on other caps you see online, you will wear out the hook and/or have a difficult time removing the cap from the spout. Look at the item carefully, before purchasing. This is why you lost your cap in the first place, by not using the flat edge. Not your fault, Blitz didn’t explain it very well. Put your cap on the spout with the flat edge aligned to and sliding under the hook, then twist so that it’s held into place. When removing, twist the cap so the flat edge is aligned to the hook, then remove – very easy to remove. You can install the vents in any plastic fuel can/jugs. Please note that it is recommended that your fuel can be empty, clean and dry before vent installation. To install a new vent, pre-drill a small hole in the can on top, opposite of the spout with a 1/16" drill bit. Drill the final hole with a 1/2" (31/64") boring bit (be gentle when drilling, and check can for any debris). Now you have your 1/2" hole, all you have to do to install the vent in by tapping the vent with a hammer, or if you're "strong like bull", snap that puppy in with the palm of your hand, push firmly to fully seat.Make sure you inspect the inside of your fuel can before filling with fuel, to make sure no plastic or other debris has fallen inside. START VENTING AND ENJOY!!!Make certain when buying vents online, that each vent has a retention ring around the base of the vent! If the lower part of the vent is smooth, the vent you have is designed for "metal" cans and may not stay in place in a plastic can.
